Last Steamboat run

I ran another 5 miles this am. I tried to do it at pace and was able to do it a bit faster which was nice. I really just wanted to test my knee. I took a minor spill yesterday on the icy slopes, but I felt a tweak in my knee at one point and thought "oh-oh". It didn't hurt much but it made me more wary the rest of the day. At the end of the day, if I moved it a certain way, it would hurt. Fortunately running didn't bother it at all. So, it looks like I am good, I just won't be able to do any deep knee bends which is just fine with me.

We are done with skiing (so my knee problem was well timed) and just spending the day relaxing and in the pool.

I am looking forward to getting back to the Sparta running group!

Another thing I said....

I would never do, run on vacation! Plus I have done it 3 times all on the dreadmill and all in the morning! Not sure entirely why since I am not training for a marathon. Plus I have now run more then Jim who is. But it does start the day off right especially when each run I am able to improve my average pace. I guess the dreadmill isn't so bad after all! Of course these treadmills are much nicer than ours. I am surprised and how good the runs have felt given all the skiing and the higher altitude. The great thing about running is that I am not sore after skiing. The first year we came out here I wasn't running and I was so sore after the first day. The next time, I believe I was running but not as seriously and I was still a little sore, but again nothing like the first time. This year the only place I have been sore is my triceps due to poling and a little bit of a stiff neck from a fall.

Jim and I both ended up buying new skis. My ski instructor said to me "The first thing you should do is take those skis and put them up on you wall and get shorter ones". I was a bit skeptical at first since my skis were only 8 years old - heck I grew up skiing on skis that had been handed down and down and down. But since Jim was talking about new skis we decided to demo a couple. We had done only part of a run and we both stopped and GUSHED about how great the skis were. Now, this is not normal for me, but man - could I tell the difference. It has made skiing so much more enjoyable and easier. Probably another reason I am not sore. Plus I now have 152cm. When we were in the gondola line I was looking at the skis men had and realized that most of them had 170's which is what my old ones were!
