Another thing I said....

I would never do, run on vacation! Plus I have done it 3 times all on the dreadmill and all in the morning! Not sure entirely why since I am not training for a marathon. Plus I have now run more then Jim who is. But it does start the day off right especially when each run I am able to improve my average pace. I guess the dreadmill isn't so bad after all! Of course these treadmills are much nicer than ours. I am surprised and how good the runs have felt given all the skiing and the higher altitude. The great thing about running is that I am not sore after skiing. The first year we came out here I wasn't running and I was so sore after the first day. The next time, I believe I was running but not as seriously and I was still a little sore, but again nothing like the first time. This year the only place I have been sore is my triceps due to poling and a little bit of a stiff neck from a fall.

Jim and I both ended up buying new skis. My ski instructor said to me "The first thing you should do is take those skis and put them up on you wall and get shorter ones". I was a bit skeptical at first since my skis were only 8 years old - heck I grew up skiing on skis that had been handed down and down and down. But since Jim was talking about new skis we decided to demo a couple. We had done only part of a run and we both stopped and GUSHED about how great the skis were. Now, this is not normal for me, but man - could I tell the difference. It has made skiing so much more enjoyable and easier. Probably another reason I am not sore. Plus I now have 152cm. When we were in the gondola line I was looking at the skis men had and realized that most of them had 170's which is what my old ones were!

  1. Great to hear that you are having a good time!! We miss you in the mornings - I took a spill on the ice this morning...my first one. My knee is a bit beat up, but other than that, I was able to pick myself up and finish the run...with a little bit of wounded pride!! You enjoy the rest of your trip and we will see you when you get back!!
