Long Saturday Run

Ran 10.25 miles today. The roads were still snow covered, so I was glad I had my Yaktrax on again, otherwise it would have been a miserable run. It went fast with all the different conversations. It was a nice run, but it will be nicer (and easier) when the roads clear!

We did welcome Katie back from injury! It was great to have her a long again. And a new runner, Holly, who we hopefully did not scare away! She did great! Her longest run!

It's 4:57! SH*****!

I had my alarm set for weekend, so it didn't go off at 4:35 and I knew Christy would be waiting for me. I have never gotten ready so fast! I caught her on the route and joined her. It was a snowy run and it wasn't bad with my Yaktrax. It was one of the few times I have been able to wear then and they work so well in these conditions! The wind hadn't picked up, so it was actually a pretty enjoyable run. Plus I learned that running without brushing your teeth isn't too bad - at least for me, maybe my running partner felt differently!

It was a good way to start out my 39th year!

Wed Running Group

It had been a long time since I ran with the Wednesday night running group. It was great to join them again. I felt good during the run, but my pace was slowed by slippery conditions and needing to walk through or around snow piles at intersections. It makes you really appreciate the people who make paths through the snowplow mounds (mountains) at the ends of sidewalks and really curse those who don't shovel at all!

80 degrees!

No, not in Wisconsin - in Texas! I couldn't resist running it in. Unfortunately, it was during rush hour so I had to do a lot of waiting at intersections and be very vigilant about watching turning cars. It made me wonder what is better - being able to run in a big city where routes possibilities are endless, but there is traffic and safety issues. Or in a small town where the routes are limited, but you can run in the streets when there is snow. I think the small town wins out. I think even if you live in a city, you still run the same routes again and again.

The hotel had a great laminated map small enough to go in my pocket. I will have to give them kudos on their comment card for it! It was wonderful to have, especially when I started out in the wrong direction to begin with!

I am glad I got out and even got to run in a section of big houses. I came in at night and will be leaving in the dark, so it was nice to get a better sense of Houston.

Snowy run

Judy and I went a slow 5 miles in sloppy snow today. We did it and it felt much better then the treadmill!

Snowstorm treadmill run

A miserable 4 miles on the treadmill this morning. I don't know how Jim did 1.5 hours yesterday. My mind was just not in to it, but at least I got it done. I suppose I could go out and shovel snow for more of a workout!
