January 6 - I have run a Marathon!

YTD - 26.2!

Yes, folks I have already run a marathon this year - okay it took me four runs to do it, but you got to celebrate when you can - right? Too bad running 26.2 all at once doesn't feel as good as running it over 4 runs!

Had a nice long run this morning with Judy and Amy. Bryan and Shelia joined us for part off the way too! We ran 1.5 hours which resulted in 9.58 miles (according to my good ole Garmin). It is amazing (not in a good way) how much longer adding 30 minutes feels!

Down another pound this week. Still have at least 5 to go. This is when it starts getting tough! At least cookie, I mean Christmas, season is behind us!

Favorite Gear

I have added links to my favorite gear (A GREAT place to let your spouse know about when a gift giving occasion is nearing!). It is located on the right hand column. If you have any gear that you would be so bummed to lose, let me know and I will add it.

Also, currently the new Garmin 301 is on sale at Walmart Online for $179! They are usually $249. Walmart has the best prices for Garmins. The old version is $116.

Lastly, If you are looking for running clothes, this is a good time of year to buy them. Road Runner Sports and National Running Center are both having their after Christmas sales.

Great Group!

YTD 16.5

A great group running this morning - Jill, Sandy, Mike, Julianne and Christy! We are trying to bring Julianne over to the 'evil' morning side! Fortunately for her we only take willing hostages! Unbelievably warm weather - 40 degrees! It will be hard when it goes back to normal!

Sparta Running Club Promotion

I found a way for the Sparta Running Club to promote themselves - take a look! Quite the fit running club! Not a spare tire or saddle bag among them - just like us!

January 3

YTD: 11

I had a hard time logging on to my blog for some reason this morning... too many passwords!

A little bit windy this morning, but still a good run with Sandy, Christy and Mike. We got a little quite at the end. We all must have been working hard! The run was a little harder than yesterday for some reason, but still felt good after it was done.

First Run of New Year

A beautiful 5.5 mile run with Sandy this morning. A perfect morning to run. No wind and good conversation. A GREAT way to start the New Year of running!

YTD: 5.5

LAUNCH

Well, I decided to start the New Year by launching my blog, which means telling other people about it. I don't believe it will be a great source of knowledge or inspiration for others, but I hope it will be for me. I figure the best way to ensure I keep committed to it is by tell others. In my mind if I believe others are reading it (true or not), I will feel compelled to keep at it.

Here is a little inspiration to start out 2007.

Wonderful run to end 2006!

A wonderful 5.4 mile run this morning despite a downpour. I am so.....o glad I ran! One of my running group called last night and asked if anyone was running this morning. I ended up deciding to run with her. It was a downpour, but a warm 41 degrees. She was still up for it and it was a wonderful run! Started the day out right. I learned that running in the rain isn't so bad and somewhat enjoyable! It makes you feel like such a "runner". DH laughed when I told him that. :D

So I ended 2006 with 1,276 miles and a wonderful and inspiring run! It makes me excited for 2007! Can't beat that!

I am down 3 lbs from my high weight, so I am also happy about that. The first day of "getting back on track" was hard, but each day gets easier.

Useful Links: Speaking of running partners. We have loosely organized group of dedicated runners. Every week e-mails would fly back and forth about who wanted to run and when. It all got very confusing. I found the free Doodle website where you can create surveys which people can fill out on-line. So for our morning running group, I e-mail a link to the next week's poll and runners can fill out their name and the mornings that they plan on running. They can then check it throughout the week to make sure someone else is running when they want to. It has really reduced the e-mail confusion!

Another site that lets you create much more elaborate surveys is Stellarsurvey. On this one you can have multiple choice answers, comment blocks etc and it analyzes the data for you.
